Damaris Garcia takes great pride in her Philadelphia roots. Born in Kensington to a single-parent household with her mother, sister, grandmother, and other extended family. She was also blessed with the support of both her stepfather and biological father who helped instill strength, hard work, determination, integrity, and character throughout her life. These qualities helped Damaris Garcia earn a Bachelor’s and JD from Duquesne University where she had to work hard to pay her own way through 7 years of higher education.
With 20 years of experience as a civil litigator, Damaris Garcia has gained experience on both sides of the courtroom: plaintiff and defense, representing homeowners and small business owners — corner stores and bodegas at the center of communities. She currently continues this work as a trial attorney at Haddix & Associates.
Passionate about advocating for justice for all Philadelphians throughout our diverse city, Damaris is an active community member through her volunteer work as Chair of the Charles Bernard Pro-Bono Initiative at Philadelphia Democratic City Committee and a member of the Point Breeze Prep Charter Board of Directors. As an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Damaris recently served as Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors and Co-Chair of the Arbitration Committee, and currently Treasurer for the State Civil Litigation Section. She is also an active member of the Hispanic Bar Association. In addition, Damaris has sat as an Arbitrator for civil matters before the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
Damaris Garcia is driven by her two decades of legal experience informed by her personal life experiences and her involvement in the communities around her. Damaris Garcia is now seeking to leverage her expertise to ensure equity and justice for all as a Judge of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas by offering new ideas to fix our long-existing problems.
